As our year comes to an end, Charger Press would like to say thank you and goodbye to our graduating seniors. Recently, we sent out a survey asking our seniors to reflect upon their time with Charger Press. We are insanely grateful for all they have done for our organization, and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors. Read more to hear from our seniors:

Shannon O’Dwyer-Editor-in-Chief:

How long have you been a part of Charger Press? 

A year and a half. 

Why did you join Charger Press?

I’ve always loved writing and I had taken AP Lang last year so I just thought I’d join. After a while I decided that I really wanted to be Editor-in-Chief because I had fallen in love with writing articles.

What is your favorite Charger Press piece that you have written?

I really like my Emmett Till article. I researched a lot for that piece and I think the actual formatting makes it an interesting read. Not only that, but I really appreciate the case and what it did for the Civil Rights Movement.

Where will you be attending college in the fall? 

MATC for a year or two on a transfer program. After that I’ll have an automatic transfer to Columbia College Chicago.

What will you be majoring in?

Film and Media studies, focusing in Direction and Screenwriting.

Jonathan Wang-Staff Writer:

How long have you been a part of Charger Press

One and a half years. 

Why did you join Charger Press?

Pressured into the club by the teacher.

What is your favorite Charger Press piece that you have written?

Arming Teachers.”

Where will you be attending college in the fall? 

UW-Madison.

What will you be majoring in?

Computer Engineering.

Maya Bell-Staff Writer:

How long have you been a part of Charger Press

Two to Three Years.

Why did you join Charger Press?

I found a passion for journalism junior year and I thought that  it was a way for me to improve my writing skills.

What is your favorite Charger Press piece that you have written?

The interview with Mrs. Gorski and the interview with the associate principal. I really like doing in-depth interviews on people.

Where will you be attending college in the fall? 

University of Minnesota. 

What will you be majoring in?

Journalism. 

Sarah Kidd-Social Media Manager:

How long have you been a part of Charger Press

Two years.

Why did you join Charger Press?

I wrote an extra credit piece for AP Lang last year, and it felt really cool to be a published author. I continued because I also enjoy writing and it's fun to write about stuff I'm interested in!

What is your favorite Charger Press piece that you have written?

Monopoly on Education” or I wrote "Through the Window" for the Creative Corner. Both were pieces I was passionate about!

Where will you be attending college in the fall? 

Georgetown University.

What will you be majoring in?

Government.

Aayush Iyengar-Staff Writer:

How long have you been a part of Charger Press

Two years.

Why Did You Join Charger Press?

Kowalske forced me… jk I thought it would be a great chance to write about a club that I loved participating in.

What is your favorite Charger Press piece that you have written?

Not in DECA. What the Hecka?”

Purdue University.

What will you be majoring in?

Aerospace Engineering.

Why did you join Charger Press?

One of the most dedicated and influential teachers I have had during my time at Hamilton happens to be the advisor of the Charger Press, Mrs. Kowalske! She encouraged me to join the team, and I am very grateful that she did.

What is your favorite Charger Press piece that you have written?

HOSA-Future Health Professional Washington Leadership Academy Trip.”
