Charger Robotics is back for the 2023-’24 season! The FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics competition season started in September and all six Charger Robotics teams have been busy building robots, creating engineering notebooks and portfolios, and impacting the community. This season, CenterStage game elements consist of launching paper drones (airplanes), suspending the robot (hanging from a bar), and making mosaic by placing pixels on the backdrop (placing colored hexagonal-shaped scoring elements on a structure to score points).

On December 2nd, Charger Robotics’s six FTC teams traveled to Harland, WI for the Knack Attack Qualifier! During the Qualification matches, 14 teams from WI competed and were ranked based on the competition scores. After the Qualification matches, the top 4 teams were announced and selected their Alliance teams. Our very own team, Crimson Crusaders, became the captain team for the 3rd seed and picked our team, Power Surge, as an alliance partner. Arc Flash, another one of our teams, was picked as an alliance partner with the 4th seed for the Elimination Rounds.

During the awards ceremony, Power Surge took 1st place for the Design Award described as winning with robot design elements that are functional, and aesthetic and incorporate industrial design elements. Crimson Crusaders took 1st place for the Motivate Award as the winning team that clearly shows what it means to be a team demonstrating Core Values, and spreading STEAM throughout our school and community. Arc Flash took 2nd place for the Connect Award, an award that shows STEAM in the community and explores opportunities in engineering.

Charger Robotics' six FTC teams traveled to Sheboygan, WI for the Showdown in Sheboygan Qualifier on December 9th. A total of 20 teams competed from WI and at the awards ceremony, Charger Robotics earned the following: Crimson Crusaders won the Motivate Award for the second time this season, Silver Storm received the Control Award which recognizes the team that uses robot sensors and software with innovative thinking shown through the engineering portfolio, and Arc Flash was nominated for 2nd place for the Control Award.
