Congratulations to April’s male athlete of the month, Suchir Siddineni! Siddineni is currently a senior here at Hamilton. He is the Varsity captain and holds the number 1 singles spot for the boys’ tennis team. In addition to this, he was the 2025 Nicolet Sweet 16 Champion and he has been on varsity for four years. So far he is 8-1 this season!

Coach Fagan speaks highly of Siddineni, stating, “Suchir’s commitment to his game and the team is extraordinary. He’s one of the pillars of our program. He carries himself well with a quiet confidence. Younger players on the team look up to him in awe of his game.”

Congrats to Suchir! Read more to hear from him:

How long have you played tennis for and why do you play?

I have played tennis since 2021. Ever since I started playing tennis I was obsessed with getting better and trying to perfect my game. I know I will never achieve perfection, but the quest to become the best I can be is what keeps me playing. Hanging out with my teammates is also fun during the season.

Who is your athlete role model and why?

My athlete role model is Anthony Edwards because I like how he never backs down from his opponent no matter how good they are. I also like how obsessed and committed he is towards securing the win.

What is your main goal this season?

My main goal this season is to try to make a deep run in state; it would be great to place high. I also want to play every match to the best of my ability so I have no regrets once I’m done playing.

What are your future plans involving tennis?

My future plans are to continue to play for fun with my friends and also play on the UW-Madison club team. I will have more opportunities to compete there.

Do you play any other sports or participate in any other activities?

When I was little I used to swim but after starting tennis it takes up most of my time. I like to teach tennis lessons or volunteer at the children’s center in the summer.

Besides tennis, what are some of your other hobbies?

I like to hang out with my family and friends and I like to watch movies as well.

What are your pre-match rituals?

I always like to listen to music and get my body moving by running and stretching. I also like visualizing the match and the way I’m going to play the points.

Do you have any teammates, coaches, parents, or other people in your life that have helped as an athlete?

The biggest help I’ve gotten is from my mom and dad as they have always supported me throughout the entire time I’ve played, driving me to tournaments, giving me food and helping me get better. I’ve had a bunch of coaches that have helped me get better as well that I have to thank. Also, big thanks to my teammates for cheering me on during matches.
