What is Leos?

Leo’s Club is an organization solely focused on volunteering around Sussex at community events. They prioritize community service to better our community as well as donating to specific organizations with money raised from events. Although it is not an HHS based club, it is a great opportunity to get involved with Sussex organizations as well as gaining volunteer hours.

How to Join

In order to join Leo’s Club, you can attend a meeting that will be after school. The upcoming meeting will be held on October 21. These meetings are typically held at Hamilton in the IMC Pit, but the location can change depending on the day. Before your first meeting, you must fill an application that is linked on Instagram, @sussexleosclub. Print out the application and bring it with you to the meeting you attend.

Duties Performed

The duties performed in this club are primarily volunteering. You must work shifts at the Lion's Daze tents in July. Lions Daze is one of their biggest fundraising events of the year. The club runs the water and popcorn tent, and members sign up to work two shifts. The money made is a major part of their fundraising money and allows them to donate to many organizations. You also must volunteer at three club events. One option is SOS Trick or Can, an event where you dress up in Halloween costumes and go around neighborhoods knocking on doors and asking people to donate canned food in order for us to donate to people in need. Other club events include volunteering at Spooky Sussex or Lunch with Santa.

Upcoming Events/Meetings

The next event that is upcoming is Spooky Sussex on October 23, an event held at Village Park where the club helps out wherever they are needed. You will be volunteering at different stands like the corn maze, haunted hayride, and many more. The next meeting will be October 21 at 6pm at Hamilton High School.
