How long have you been in choir/involved in music and why do you continue to do it?
I’ve been in choir for three years from 8th to 10th grade and will continue to do choir because I’m very passionate about singing and musical theatre. Due to my passion for musical theatre, continuing to do choir can help improve my voice for those musical auditions.
What are your musical goals for this year?
My musical goals this year are to widen my vocal range, expanding my low and high vocal register. I also wish to do well in solo/musical auditions and get my dream role or dream solo.
What are other activities that you are involved in outside of music? What are some hobbies that you enjoy in your free time?
Other activities that I am involved in besides music consist of drama, pickleball, and hanging out with friends.
What is one of your favorite memories from choir or Synergy so far?
My favorite memory in choir was when I got my first ever solo in 8th grade from the movie Tangled where I got to sing “I See The Light.” Another great memory I’ve had from being in the show choir is performing in the TMS show choir harmony and right after auditioning for Synergy.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to join choir, Synergy, or drama?
My advice to anyone wanting to join Synergy, choir, or drama is to be kind, stay humble, and be yourself. Being kind is not only the best way to get people to like you but also sets a great example of professionalism with a bit of fun sprinkled on top. Making sure you’re humble helps you stay mentally and emotionally healthy because without being humble many people will not accept that, especially directors. However, still managing to have fun, be confident, but not arrogant is an amazing way to maintain healthy humble habits. Last, but certainly not least, being yourself. Being yourself is super important because you can showcase your natural raw talents making it easier for the directors to see where your talent relies. As a very energetic person myself I’ve always loved the drama communities because you can be yourself with no judgements and me being me has gotten me a lot of my dream roles such as Mr Feldzeig in The Drowsy Chaperone and Two-Bit in The Outsiders.
What are your post-graduation plans? Do you see yourself staying involved in music in the future?
I’m still very picky on what I’m deciding to get into when I leave for college after my senior year but I know for sure I’ll definitely still be in theatre. I want to major in healthcare as well as minor in theatre. I’m also hoping to soon be on Broadway or the big screen someday.
