In today’s day and age, political participation has a heavyweight. Your vote matters, and has the ability to change the way our nation operates. This year, midterm elections take place Tuesday, November 8th—tomorrow! Don’t fret though, you still have time to register to vote if you are 18. Here’s how:

In Person on Election Day

Since the election is so soon, the best option is to register to vote on election day. Visit myvote.wi.gov and input your address to check where your polling place is located. Then, bring a valid photo ID with your current address to that polling place and register in person. The poll worker will then hand you your ballot and you may proceed with the voting process. It’s really that simple.

Registering Online

In Wisconsin, you can register to vote up to twenty days before an election. To do so, visit myvote.wi.gov, and click “register to vote.” The website will then ask you to input your name and address to check if you are already registered. Then, using a valid Wisconsin ID (like a driver’s license) the website will give you step-by-step instructions on how to register. After registering, the website will send you a registration receipt. Then, on election day you are registered and ready to vote.

MyVote Wisconsin is an incredible resource for all things election. You can use the website to register, find your polling place, see a sample ballot, request absentee ballots, AND track those ballots. In a time where elections and voting hold so much significance, I implore you to use the various resources the internet has provided us with to educate yourself on upcoming elections as well as to register to vote. Your vote matters—your voice matters.
