Walking in the Dark to Shine Light on Mental Health
For the final project in AP Language, students create and execute a service project that somehow benefits our community. My team, which consists of Olivia Thames, Kendall Zambon, Ari Brunelli, Hadley Hotchkiss, and Danielle Heer, has decided to host an evening walk/run on the HHS track! This event is designed not only to promote fitness but also to raise awareness about mental health, a topic that has been particularly important in our community given recent events. We believe that by gathering together and engaging in physical activity, we can encourage open conversations about mental health and support one another in navigating our challenges.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend, regardless of your fitness level—whether you want to walk, jog, or run, there’s a place for you! We’re making it easy to participate; our SignUpGenius is linked here for convenient sign-up. Mark your calendars for June 7th, from 6-8 pm. The student parking lot will be open for ample parking space, and restrooms attached to the track will be available.
We are particularly excited to announce that we are partnering with a few of our fellow AP Lang students, who are running their own service projects that evening. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase delicious baked goods and bracelets, with all proceeds going towards their respective causes. By participating in this event, you won't just be getting some exercise — you will also be contributing to a cause that affects so many in our community. You will have the chance to connect with friends, make new ones, and enjoy a supportive atmosphere.
We encourage everyone to bring their friends and family, spread the word, and help us create an inclusive environment where mental health can be discussed and prioritized. Together, we can make a difference and leave a positive impact on our community. We can’t wait to see you there!
