Humorology has been a University of Wisconsin-Madison tradition since 1947, touching the lives of students and the community through their passion, energy, and fundraising. Hamilton alumna Delphine Ackaouy is a part of this group and is excited to celebrate the 77th year of Humorology with the show “Magic In The Air” running on April 25th and 26th.
If you attend Humorology, you will have the chance to watch hundreds of students divided into six competing casts perform their unique variety musicals. Shows are entirely directed, choreographed, and performed by students all with a goal of raising money for a local charity.
This year, Humorology is benefitting Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center. Safe Harbor is a Madison-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce trauma and promote healing for children who have experienced sexual abuse and assault, neglect, drug endangerment, physical abuse and/or witnessed domestic violence and other violent crimes. Safe Harbor was developed as a best practice model to reduce the trauma that these children experience in the wake of an investigation.
To accomplish their mission, Safe Harbor provides a trauma-informed, safe, child-friendly environment, immediate and ongoing advocacy for affected children and families, and multi-disciplinary support for investigations and responses. The Safe Harbor team was recently informed that there will be a 30%-50% reduction in funding from the federal Victims of Crime Act statewide, which currently accounts for about 48% of their funding. With your contribution, Safe Harbor can not only maintain operations but continue to expand their crisis intervention services.
Humorology's goal is to raise $500,000 for Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center. Please consider purchasing a ticket to see the show, including an option to livestream the show if you’re unable to attend in person.
If you are unable to attend the event, donations are being collected for Safe Harbor to contribute to the fundraiser.
