Hamilton High School Journalists Win Statewide Recognition

SUSSEX, WI — The Wisconsin Journalism Education Association (WisJEA) has named Hamilton High School students Tirish Suresh and Nathan Tran as winners in the January statewide mini contest. Their article, "Lifting in the Gym for the First Time? Here's What You Need to Know," was selected as a top exemplar in the print category.

The contest invited student journalists from across Wisconsin to submit their best work. Suresh and Tran were praised by professional judges for their creative voice and engaging writing style. Under the leadership of adviser Sarah Kowalske, the Hamilton journalism program continues to be a leader in student media.

“This win is proof of the talent and hard work of our students,” said Julie Tiedens, WisJEA Vice President. “We are extremely proud to celebrate their successes.”

“Tirish and Nathan have brought a unique, fun voice to Charger Press this year,” said Kowalske. “Their writing style and choice of topics are a perfect fit for our student body and I am so proud of them.”
