Hamilton High School Student Earns Top Journalism Honor

SUSSEX, WI — Hamilton High School student Abbie Dong has been recognized as a statewide winner in the February WisJEA mini contest. Her print story, "Navigating AP Classes: Which One is the Best for You?" earned top honors for its community impact and service to the student body. Abbie’s work proved that leadership often looks like helping others find their way. Judges praised her for connecting school-embedded elements to the community at large, calling the work “awesome” and “impactful.”
The entry was evaluated by professional judges Bella Matczak, Vicki Quinn, and Elise Sterling, who commended Dong for showing her audience "how they can be a part of" the important roles in their community.
The Charger Press advisor, Sarah Kowalske, adds, “Abbie is an integral part of our staff. Her articles are always thoughtful, well researched, and written with the intent to help the student body. I’m incredibly proud of her and am grateful to WisJEA for recognizing student journalistic excellence.”
