Do you want to spend your advisement time with creative people? Do you like to write your own stories or want to learn how to? Do you want to enter your pieces into different writing competitions to earn prizes?

If you said yes to all, or at least most, of those questions I have the club just for you: Creative Writing Club! For this article, I conducted an interview with five important people in the Creative Writing Club, and hopefully they will help convince you to become our newest member. We are going to hear from Ms. Rodig, the new club advisor this year; Bhadra Nidhish Ragitha, the President, who is a junior; Kinjal Bhardwaj, the Vice President, who is a junior; and Sam Bayer, the Secretary, who is a junior.

How long have you been part of this club?

Ms. Rodig: I am the new Club Supervisor this year!

Bhadra: I started this club with my friends in freshman year.

Sam & Kinjal: Since the beginning.

Why did you decide to join?

Ms. Rodig: As I am now the sole Creative Writing Teacher, Mr. Nysse and I thought that it would make more sense for me to take over the club.

Bhadra: I started this club in freshman year; it's been two years.

What is your favorite part of being part of the Creative Writing Club?

Ms. Rodig: I like to be amidst the Salon style miasma of creative energies. Seeing students excited about creating stories and poetry from scratch is truly rewarding.

Bhadra: My favorite part would be helping people realize their stories have potential and encouraging them to create great pieces.

Sam: I like storytelling and the club is a great place to do that.

Kinjal: I love to write fictional stories as well as read fictional stories. I love the warm ups during the meetings because it's something different from the rest of the work we do in the meetings and it allows for people to come together to come up with amazing ideas.

Why should people join?

Ms. Rodig: If you want a function to put towards your form – your written creative endeavors – and want to get to know other literary creatives with whom to explore those ideas, then this club is for you!

Bhadra: Creative Writing Club is a place where everyone is welcome and the members are genuinely awesome people!

Sam: People should join the club because it's a safe space to create and share ideas with peers.

Kinjal: People should join the club because it helps improve writing skills as well as boost creativity.

How do you join the club?

Sam: Just come to a meeting!

What responsibilities do people have in this club?

Kinjal: Every meeting we have a warm up then students work on any specific competitions they want to submit their pieces to. They can send it to one of the board members which is peer reviewed. During downtime they can work on portfolios which are just pieces of work that are inspired rather than focus driven.

Why did you decide to create this club?

Bhadra: We made this club to give students a safe and welcoming space to express themselves, build self-confidence, and explore their imaginations outside of regular class requirements. By sharing stories, writing poetry, and trading feedback with peers, members learn to overcome the isolation of solo writing, strengthen their communication and critical thinking skills, and support each other through constructive critiques. Ultimately, the club turns writing from a solitary school assignment into a collaborative, low-pressure outlet where voices can be heard, valued, and celebrated.

Is there anything else you want to say that you don't think fits any of the other questions?

Ms. Rodig: If you think you might like to join the Club, be sure to consider taking the Creative Writing Class as well!

Sam, Kinjal, and Bhadra: JOIN CREATIVE WRITING!

Hopefully these people sparked some interest and you will at least consider joining. Don’t worry, you are allowed to join whenever you want. You can join today, tomorrow, next week, next year, whatever you choose. Meetings during advisement time in E180. They usually meet on Mondays, and try to meet at least two times per month.
