NHS: Back on our Feet

Exciting news, Chargers: NHS is back and officially established once again!
New Advisors: Ms. Brittany Scheers (our new Library & Technology Literacy Specialist) and Ms. Carrie Maxwell (our resident freshman Biology teacher and Club Action co-advisor) have graciously volunteered their services to advise the NHS and help our Executive Board carry out their responsibilities.
Invitations and New Applicants: Students can finally apply for NHS membership this year! If you are an eligible student not already in NHS, as in, you possess an average weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher, you were emailed a plethora of information on how to apply. If you DO NOT have a weighted GPA at 3.5 or above, then you are not eligible.
Due date: Monday, October 19, 2026 - 3:00pm. Recommendation forms are also due by then!
NHS Application Checklist - see if you meet all the requirements before submitting!
Please place your application in a solid color, two-pocket folder. Your application, essay, NHS Membership Agreement Form/Code of Conduct Contract, and your $25 (cash or check) safely placed in an envelope with your name written on it LEGIBLY.
Senior NHS Members: All seniors inducted last year DO NOT have to reapply for membership this year. You also DO NOT need to attend the Induction Ceremony. Please sign up for our upcoming SENIOR-ONLY meeting on Wednesday, October 28. Students who have early release or don’t have an advisement should contact our advisors on how to be added to the FLEX.
Volunteering Sign-Up PSA: We really need our Senior members to step up for our remaining October events! Please refer to the NHS Google Drive for current and future volunteering opportunities. Listed below are a few available.
Only current NHS members are allowed to be signing up at this time. New members cannot volunteer until after the Induction Ceremony.

Please turn in your hour forms into the turn-in basket in the IMC by Mrs. Scheer’s desk.
Disclaimer for our Seniors: Once our new members have been inducted, please be gracious with the sign-up availability in these first few months. It is a common trend for our newly-inducted members to be the first ones signed-up for events, with events filling up within minutes of posting. If you want to get started on your hours early, or even have early access to upcoming events, we recommend checking out our NHS Google Drive and skim through the months to see opportunities available. Once NHS has our induction ceremony, there will not be many slots available! Have your Remind notifications turned on to be notified of the newest NHS events.
