May is mental health awareness month and we want all our Hamilton students and staff to feel supported.

Last year Hamilton’s inaugural #SockoutSuicide was a major success with many students and staff showing up with their fun socks as well as raising $350 for The American Foundation of Susicide Prevention! This year #SockoutSuicide will be held on Friday, May 29—the day of the all-school social— and students and staff are encouraged to wear fun, crazy socks. This is also the school-wide fun day so it would be fun to see everyone’s fun socks!

This year, we are continuing to run a fundraiser, and if we reach a goal of $1000, Mr. Weiss will wear socks and sandals (which is a combo that he is known for hating). In addition, Mr. Wunshel will bring in his super cute dogs, Yogi and Pepper, for everyone to meet! The fundraiser will start on May 21st, there will be a drop box in Mr. Weiss’s room, Mr. Wunschel’s room, and student services. Whenever you walk by, consider dropping off a donation to help us reach our goal! All the money from donations will go towards NAMI, which is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We have a local branch called NAMI Southeast Wisconsin, which is a local program that provides free mental health support, education, and advocacy.

Pick out your socks and bring your spare change to help us raise awareness for mental health!
