The student advisory council met on May 18 during advisement with Mr. Bauer. The following is a summary of the agenda items discussed between Mr. Bauer and the students involved in the student advisory council.

Final exam schedule

The final exam schedule for the last two days is the same as the end of first semester. This includes 3 flex periods in the morning on exam day 1 and then 3rd and 4th block to round off day 1. Day 2 is a half day with 1st period followed by a flex advisement and then 2nd period rounds off day 2.

All school social

The all school social is taking place on May 29 (next Friday). This year we are expecting 10+ food trucks which is more than last year. There are food trucks coming back from last year as well as a variety of new ones. Clubs will be allowed to run fundraisers and they can sign up through an email sent out by administration.*

Change in AP Focus structure for next year

Next year AP Focus is not able to be dropped (discussions are still happening about if AP Focus can be dropped after the AP exams in May), but there is a possibility that seniors will be able to earn a free period. This is still in conversation and nothing is confirmed. In the case that seniors will have this ability, they will have to meet certain requirements. Next year administration would likely be more flexible with these requirements.

How can we make social events better?

Many suggestions from students centered around Homecoming. Suggestions from students included a theme for Homecoming, more thought into who the DJ is, trying to increase the budget for dances in general, and more activities for students to do in the cafeteria. There were also suggestions for making Powderpuff better, such as having the final game during the school day to increase attendance. There were also several ideas about improving the pep rallies. Finally, students shared ideas about improvements to Prom, such as a different DJ, reconsidering the dinner inclusion, and shortening the total time at the venue.
