Congrats to October's female athlete of the month, Allison Seiler! Seiler is currently a senior here at Hamilton. She's on the girls’ varsity swim team and she swims the 200 free, 100 back, and 50 free. Recently her team won conference for the GMC and they will be competing at State in three weeks!

Teammate Kaylin Vosters, a Hamilton junior, speaks highly of Seiler:
“Allie is always motivating to be around both at practice and meets. She always brings the energy and helps to keep up the team's attitude!”
Junior Celia Grossmeyer adds:
“Allie is really just a fun teammate to be around in all aspects, making the team a better environment. She’s a positive influence to all swimmers, while also being a great friend and student outside of the pool area."
Congrats to Seiler! Read more to hear from her:
How long have you swam and why do you swim?
I have been swimming competitively since I was five. I continue to swim to keep my body active, stay in touch with friends, and to pursue my hope of swimming in college.
Who is your athlete role model and why?
One swimmer who inspires me is Torri Huske. She won a gold medal in the 100m butterfly after not even finishing top three in [the] 100m butterfly earlier in the meet, inspiring me to continue to persevere through hard practices or when I don't perform well.
What is your main goal this season?
My main goal this season is to place top eight at state in the 100m back and hopefully [take] top three at state in one of the relays.
What are your future plans involving swim?
I am still undecided on whether or not I will swim in college. To me, my academics are more important than my athletics, so depending on where my academics take me, I may or may not swim in college.
Do you play any other sports and if so what?
Before high school I was participating in club sports such as basketball, cross country, and track. Once I started my freshman year, I decided to stick to swimming as it is a huge time commitment.
Besides swimming, what are some of your other hobbies?
Like I said, swimming is a huge time commitment so I often don't have a lot of time for hobbies. Some things I like to do though are hang out with friends and go shopping.

What are your pre-meet rituals?
Before meets I often reflect on my old races to understand what I should fix so I can perform better. I often visualize before my races to give myself confidence and relieve anxiety. I also make sure to stay active, not sitting down but doing leg swings and walking to keep my muscles warm.
Do you have any teammates, coaches, parents, or other people in your life that have helped as an athlete?
My family, coaches, and teammates all play a key role in swimming in my life. My family always encourages and believes in me, never pressuring me to do better. My coaches also play an essential role, as without their exercises, feedback, and support, I would not be where I am. My teammates also allow me to have fun in practices and at meets so that I don't quickly get burnt out.
