Brooke Baldwin, a senior at Hamilton, has recently committed to Rutgers University to play volleyball. Brooke has been playing for twelve years, and signed as a setter.
Baldwin’s teammate, Sylvia Wargolet, says “Brooke is the kind of teammate every volleyball player hopes to have. She’s a natural leader who pushes everyone around her to be their absolute best, all while showing constant kindness and putting the team first. Brooke was always willing to do whatever it took to help our team reach our goal.”

What do you intend to major in?
I am undecided when it comes to my major, but leaning toward business.
What is your favorite pre-game song that gets you ready to play?
I honestly listen to a little bit of everything, but a team favorite this season that I really liked was “Maui Wowie” by Kid Cudi.
What is your favorite memory from playing volleyball?
By far, my favorite volleyball memory was winning State with this incredible team. What made the moment even more special was getting to share it with my little sister, Claire. Competing alongside my best friends and celebrating such a meaningful accomplishment together is a memory I’ll cherish forever.
What is one lesson you have learned from volleyball that has helped you in life?
Sometimes games are lost, mistakes are made, and setbacks arise, but these moments often offer lessons far bigger than the sport itself. They have helped me grow mentally stronger and taught me that success isn’t just about winning—it’s also about learning from mistakes and overcoming challenges.
What drives you as an athlete?
What drives me as an athlete is the pursuit of growth and the feeling of winning. There’s nothing like seeing hard work pay off, and winning brings a sense of joy that motivates me to keep pushing my limits. At the same time, sports have helped me grow mentally, teaching me discipline, resilience, and how to turn setbacks into opportunities to improve. Just as important, I’ve formed some of my closest friendships through sports, and those connections inspire me every day and push me to continue competing—not just for myself, but for the people beside me.
What will you miss most about playing for Hamilton?
I will truly miss representing Hamilton and competing alongside my best friends. The relationships I’ve built and the people within this program have meant so much to me and have made this journey incredibly special. I’m forever grateful for the memories, support, and sense of family that will always be a part of who I am.

I'm super excited to begin this new chapter at Rutgers University. This opportunity will challenge me both athletically and academically, pushing me to grow as a student and as an athlete. Competing at the highest level in the Big Ten has been a dream of mine since I was little, and I'm beyond grateful for the chance to represent Rutgers.
What is one piece of advice that you would give to someone who is trying to play volleyball in college?
One of the most important parts to wanting to play at the next level is to believe in yourself and trust the process. Everyone's process will be different, but yours will be the right path for you.
Is there anyone you would like to shout out that has helped you in your athletic journey?
I want to give the biggest thank you to my mom and dad, who have been my foundation throughout my entire volleyball journey. Their constant love, sacrifice, and support—on and off the court—have shaped me into the person and athlete I am today. They have stood by me through every high and low, always believing in me and reminding me to keep going. I am endlessly grateful for everything they have done for our family, and I carry their support with me in everything I do.
